Security Ministry
St. Gabriel is forming a new Security Ministry to help ensure that our parish and school remain safe, peaceful, and welcoming places for all.
This ministry is rooted in care for our parish family. Members of the Security Ministry will serve as a quiet, attentive presence during Masses, parish events, and school-related activities, helping support the safety and well-being of all who gather at St. Gabriel.
This ministry is open to anyone who feels called to help protect and care for our community. No professional experience is required. We especially welcome those with active or retired experience in law enforcement, EMS, private security, firefighting, military service, emergency response, or related fields.
Those interested in serving will receive guidance on expectations, communication, emergency procedures, and how to respond appropriately in different situations.
If you feel called to serve in this important ministry, please contact Bill Marcotte, Parish Manager, through the parish office.
Common Questions
Do I need professional security or law enforcement experience to join?
No. While experience in law enforcement, EMS, security, firefighting, military service, or emergency response is very helpful, it is not required. We welcome anyone who feels called to serve and has a calm, observant, and caring presence.
What does the Security Ministry do?
Members help provide a quiet and attentive presence at Masses, parish events, and school-related activities. They may help observe activity on campus, assist with basic safety concerns, communicate with parish staff, and support emergency procedures when needed.
Is this ministry only for men?
No. Men and women are both encouraged to consider serving.
Will training be provided?
Yes. Volunteers will receive guidance on the role, expectations, communication procedures, emergency response, and appropriate ways to assist in different situations.
Will I be expected to confront people?
The goal of this ministry is not confrontation. The ministry exists to help keep St. Gabriel safe, peaceful, and welcoming. Volunteers will be trained to observe, communicate, and respond appropriately according to parish procedures.
Is this a visible ministry?
The Security Ministry is intended to be a calm and helpful presence, not a distraction. Members may serve in a quiet, low-profile way while remaining attentive to the needs of the parish community.
