Hands of Love Prayer Shawl Ministry

Care and the love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace.

The Hands of Love Prayer Shawl Ministry is one in which prayer shawls are made for and given to people who may be sick or suffering in any way. Someone may be preparing to undergo surgery, another may need comfort after the loss of a loved one, and another may be experiencing a mild illness or a terminal illness.

The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice that embodies our thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the prayer shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart. Those who receive these prayer shawls have been uplifted and affirmed. As a recipient of a prayer shawl said “a prayer shawl is a tangible way to feel God’s presence".

The ability to knit or crochet is needed but, if you do not know how, we have volunteers that are ready to teach you. The ability to pray while working comes from the Holy Spirit and is available to all.
