Sacramental Preparation (Ages 6-12)
Sacrament Eligibility
Parents are encouraged to enroll their children in sacrament formation at the beginning of 1st grade. Diocesan policy states that both Catholic school children and non-Catholic school children are required to attend the sacrament formation program provided them by their home parish.
Sacrament preparation sessions build upon one another and attendance is considered mandatory. A child should not miss a session without due cause. If attendance becomes a recurring issue, they may need to wait to receive their Sacraments when all commitment and formation requirements can be fulfilled.
Baptized children ages 7-9 are eligible for First Reconciliation and should register for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level Two. Children must also have completed a full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to the year they enroll for 1st Reconciliation Prep.
Baptized children ages 9-12 are eligible for First Reconciliation and should register for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level Three. Children must also have completed a full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to the year they enroll for 1st Reconciliation Prep.
Confirmation and First Holy Eucharist (Communion) candidates are eligible if they are in third grade or above, have been baptized and have completed their 1st Reconciliation. They also must have completed a full year of sacrament formation immediately prior to the year they enroll for Confirmation/1st Holy Eucharist prep.
