Attendance is mandatory at all Sacrament preparation sessions. *If your child misses class due to unforeseen circumstances or illness, they must make up the work they missed in a timely manner. If attendance becomes a recurring issue, they may need to wait to receive their Sacraments when all commitment and formation requirements can be fulfilled.

Baptized children in second grade or above are eligible for First Reconciliation and must also enroll in the “Faith & Life” Catechetical Series and complete the “pre-assessments” for their grade level.

Confirmation and First Eucharist candidates are eligible if they are in third grade or above, have been Baptized and completed their First Reconciliation, and must also enroll in the “Faith & Life” Catechetical Series and complete the “pre-assessments” for their grade level.

Program Materials

The “Saints Among Us” restored order 24 week curriculum from the Archdiocese of Denver consists of 4 books that prepare children for the reception of First Reconciliation and First Communion / Confirmation. The program seeks to form the hearts of your children while also imparting the necessary content of our Catholic Faith. Children listen to the Word of God, learn various forms of prayer, and develop ways to relate the content to their everyday lives.

First Reconciliation

Book 1 — “Road Map to Heaven,” children receive the story of Salvation History including lessons on Biblical figures like Adam and Eve, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David. Salvation History becomes their story and presents the life of Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of our Salvation.

Book 2 — “Reconciliation” focuses on the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and how to receive it properly. Your children learn how to connect Reconciliation with the Ten Commandments, the Parables of Jesus, and the Beatitudes while developing a loving relationship with God.

First Communion / Confirmation

Book 3 — “Confirmation” examines how Confirmation completes our Baptism, helps us to relate to the Holy Trinity, and invites us to allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. By looking at the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit in detail, your children will recognize the importance of the Laying on of Hands and the Anointing in the Rite of Confirmation.

Book 4 — “Eucharist” focuses on the culmination of the Sacraments of Initiation—First Communion. As the source and summit of our Faith, your children learn about the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, how to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and how to properly receive Jesus with prayer and love.
